Bike Butcher has received some funding from the Department of Planning & Community Development. This money is to conduct a feasibility study into Bike Butcher being set up as a social enterprise.

Kinda sounds boring…In reality, whoever did this job would be recycling bikes with young adults one day a week, and doing the legwork for the feasibility study – stuff like interviewing bike retailers, finding out whether anyone wants to buy the bike etc.

If you think you would be good for this job, or you know someone, contact Ali Turnbull on (03) 5410 0663 or email ride@bikebutcher.org.

David Boyce, a stalwart of the Long Gully community, has died suddenly. David was a tireless contributor to community programs: Energetic Street Community Garden, Mensheds as well as the committee of the Long Gully Neighbourhood Centre.

As well as leaving behind his family, he leaves behind many sad people like myself, who will not only miss his hat and handlebar moustache, but his belief that a community is grown through small steps of positive contribution. Dave made countless small steps like this that enabled so many positive things to happen.

He took the last small step last week, but he took a great leap in his life.

Rest in peace.
